Jack - January 29

Wow, long week.

I hope everyone is doing well at home, We had a pretty good week this week.

We´ve been pretty hard at work this week, really trying to find more people to teach but it´s still pretty slowgoing. This week we went through a bunch of old teaching records from a couple years ago to see if we could find someone, but in a lot of the records the address is wrong. Also the house numbering system in Chile doesn´t have any rhyme or reason so we did lots of searching for houses.

We did have some miracles though, on Saturday we had an appointment that fell through and we had a member with us, so then he showed us to his friend´s house and we were able to teach him. It was a really good lesson and at the end we invited him to be baptized and he said yes, we set a date for his baptism to work towards, but we´ll have to move it because he didn´t attend church yesterday.

The greatest miracle happened on Friday. Earlier in the week we had had lunch with the Bishop and afterwards we talked about missionary work and how we could work together more as a ward, then we invited him to acompany us to an appointment we had set with a member who´s less active in the church. When we went with the bishop we were really worried because for all of my time here he hasn´t trusted the missionaries or helped us at all. Then for the appointment we had, we couldn´t find the house because Chile stinks at numbering houses. The whole thing seemed like a train wreck, but the only thing we could do was move forward so we started asking some people about the person we were looking for, and one of the people turned out to be really interested in talking more with us another day. We eventually found the house but the member wasn´t there, and my companion and I also had to leave quickly so he could interview someone in another area for their baptism. So all in all we never made contact with the person, we were only with the bishop for like half and hour, and then we had to quickly leave. But guess what... On Sunday the Bishop got up and bore his testimony of missionary work, he shared his experience with the whole ward and was so impressed that the Lord puts us where we are to help people. Maybe it wasnt the best half hour, or following our plans, but we were able to find someone who needs the happiness the gospel brings in our lives. It was awesome. I invite everyone to look around you and look for someone who needs that light in their life and to share it.

Now we´ve got more members scheduling times to acompany us than we have teaching appointments. If only we could find some more people.

I hope everyone´s week was good, keep pushing forward  and be happy.
